It appears that 2K will take over the FIFA football game franchise from EA.

Recent reports claim that 2K Games is in charge of creating a new series of football games after obtaining the official FIFA game license. The announcement on Twitter/X stating "The partnership is confirmed, and 2K will be developing a new football game series" was initially leaked by retailer MohPlay Inc. This aligns with past rumors that said 2K was working on a FIFA game.

In 2022, Electronic Arts and FIFA parted ways to produce football games independently. The former launched the EA Sports FC franchise, while FIFA leased its name to lesser football games. But if these reports are accurate, 2K will now be producing FIFA games going forward.

A new leak this week from retailer MohPlay Inc. has thrown gasoline to the flames regarding the rumor that 2K and FIFA were in talks to co-develop a new football game property, as revealed by Insider Gaming earlier this year. The merchant asserts that 2K is replacing EA as the developer of the FIFA video game franchise with "a new football game series." In the meantime, EA will keep releasing new games for its EA Sports FC line every year.

Following the breakdown of talks between the two sides, EA decided to discontinue the FIFA game series, leaving FIFA to license its own brand to other developers for lesser products. However, it appears that the firm is attempting to return to the heyday of yearly FIFA games and believes that 2K is the ideal publisher to help it happen.

"FIFA 2K25 is set to launch this year, just in time for the FIFA World Cup 2K26," according to the leaker. which implies that gamers shouldn't have to wait very long for 2K to make an official announcement regarding the game. FIFA 2K25 may very possibly be one of the many future games that will be shown off at the Summer Game Fest, which will begin in June.

In September of this year, EA Sports FC 25 is also anticipated to release, providing football game enthusiasts with two excellent choices. Three, if you include the eFootball franchise from Konami.
